John Duncan, another of Robert’s older brothers, also pursued a career in horticulture. He became head gardener at Drumgeith Gardens in Dundee, continuing the long Duncan tradition of working the land. John married Effie, and they had two children, John and Nan. Their son John served in the forces during the Second World War but sadly died in his early thirties. Nan later worked in an office in Dundee.
