Isabella Nicoll was born in Marykirk in 1851 the oldest of 5 children born to Peter Nicoll and Susan Crammond.

Isabella is recorded as being a domestic servant when she married Andrew in 1875.

She was mother to 6 children and lived to the grand old age of 78.

Unfortunately little is recorded of Isabella’s life. The notice of her death at her daughter Jean’s home in 1929 simply records her as wife of “Mr Andrew Duncan, for many years gardener at Old Montrose.”
